Modelling

We made our models that we have designed in Photoshop by talking our self’s and creating myself as a zombie, soon as we had a design we went straight into using 'Grey stuff' which was a lot easier than 'Green stuff' it is less sticky and more moveable so making face shapes and little additional detail was a lot easier.

We started by using tin foil and made a basic skull shape, we had to keep it tight and condense so when we are modelling the face the skull doesn’t change shape when we press hard.

Soon enough I added a basic shape for my nose and added the extra layer of skin so my character has the basic shape and structure of an actual skull, but there was a problem, my character didn’t look like it had a chin which annoyed me because people tend to have chins, I solved this by getting a lump of grey stuff and adding it to the bottom of my model, then mould it till it makes the shape of a chin. I added a facial expression as well by making the eyes look angry, so it has more of a personality.

After getting the basic shape I started to add details onto my model, I added flaps of skin coming off of my face and teeth snarling, I was trying to make my model look aggressive, I added mould into the eyes and little dots and markings on the model to make it look rougher.

(In the picture on the right you can see the slight indentations I have made and also the chin I have added, also the nose has been fixed and made more define and realistic.)
I started to add hair which I felt didn’t look right, it look stringy and like spaghetti and not the realistic look that I want, I also added rips on the skin folds and more chips and scratches onto my face. I also filled the holes in my eyes, but I hadn’t finished yet.

Because I didn’t like my hair I thought adding a shoulder would make the process easier, which it did, instead of it looking like spaghetti and attached it to the head and shoulders. I wrapped tin foil around the role and then added the Grey stuff to do this.

Here is my finished model, I do like how rough and messy it looks, my favourite part is adding skin flaps and I love how it looks, one mistake I have made is I didn’t make the forehead big enough which is what I don’t like and I would change because it takes away from the realism. Over all I liked modelling and found it fun to do.

Editing Picture

We took pictures of our selfs to add on Photoshop, so we can edit our selfs and make us into zombies. We do this so the whole moldelling process is easier so we know what to add. We make our selfs look skinnier by using liquify by pulling our cheeks in and making cheek bones stand out, the burn took also does this but you draw them on by faintly pressing. Changing the skin colour was easy by changing the settings of Hue and Saturation made our skin look grey and decaying. Also by usuing images online, we pick out pictures we like and use things such as eyes or mouth and add them on the face, you have to blend and change the Hue and Saturation to make it similar to your skin colour and make it look like it's part of your face.

This is the finished product, by using pictures online and editing, it made a sucesssful zombie look.

zombie fide!

Today at college we Photoshopped the pictures of our self's on Photoshop, to make our self' into zombies. we used a lot of tools and reference off the internet to give an idea of what i would like zombie me to look like! we shaped our faces with Liquify which mutilates the face so i can change the structure of my face, I made cheek bones stick out further and my skin sink in a lot more so the outline of my skull was showing more and this created a skinnier effect which was hard at first but soon as you get the hang of just pushing the skin in, it gets easier.

also I changed my skin colour by using CTRL U, which changes the saturation of the picture to create a dull effect, the skin looked more wish washy and in my picture i looked ill, this was helpful since zombies don't look healthy.

The burn tool was extremely helpful because it makes your skin look a lot more sunken in than it already is, it gave me more definition around parts i wanted to stand out, such as the collar bone because when studying other pictures of zombies, all of them had a strong collar bone because they were so malnourished and skinny.

after I used sections of other peoples pictures to create a more zombie looking effect, for example i used a picture for my zombie mouth, I cut off the parts I didn't need with CTRL X and turned down the pictures opacity so i can see where I was placing the picture on my body, after i used the eraser tool around the rest of the parts I didn't want. after I blurred the picture into my real skin so it looks more realistic, and change the colour balance by clicking on CTRL B, so the mouth looks more to my own skin tone than someone elses.
